JFK is our busiest airport and the destinations spread further than the other two. The obvious runs are Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, all on published flat rates. Peak periods, and when to book further ahead
JFK has a handful of weeks each year when normal booking lead times do not work. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the single busiest travel day at the airport, and the days around Christmas and New Year run it close.
UN General Assembly week each September is the other one, and it is a road problem rather than a terminal problem — motorcade closures across Midtown make Manhattan departure times genuinely unpredictable for that week. We plan larger buffers into every booking during it.
For those periods, book a sedan a week out and an SUV or Sprinter two weeks out. Outside them, twenty-four hours is comfortable for a sedan and forty-eight to seventy-two hours for the larger vehicles.
