What to know about this area

Manhattan is where the Congestion Relief Zone applies. The statutory per-trip surcharge on for-hire trips below 60th Street is $0.75 and is shown separately rather than buried.

For a day of meetings across the island, hourly hire almost always beats booking individual trips — the car waits with your things in it and you stop re-booking between stops.

Kerbside conditions in Midtown are genuinely difficult. Tell us the cross street you want rather than only the avenue address and the pickup goes much faster.

Pickups in Midtown are a kerbside problem, not a driving problem

The hard part of a Manhattan pickup is almost never the traffic. It is finding a legal place to stop within sight of the person waiting. Avenue addresses in Midtown frequently have no usable kerb at all during business hours.

The single most useful thing you can tell us is the cross street rather than only the building number. 'Madison at 51st, north-east corner' turns a five-minute circling problem into a thirty-second one.

For hotel pickups, tell us whether you want the main entrance or the side door. Large Midtown hotels often have a dedicated car entrance that is considerably faster than the front.

Working days across the island

Manhattan is where hourly hire earns its keep more than anywhere else we operate. The island is small enough that four meetings in a day is normal and large enough that moving between them repeatedly is genuinely expensive in time.

A typical booking is nine to five with stops in Midtown, Downtown and somewhere on the West Side, with a car that holds the materials and waits. Booked as separate transfers that is four pickups; booked hourly it is one chauffeur who already knows the day.

Crosstown movement remains the constraint. Journeys across the island take disproportionately longer than journeys up and down it, and a schedule that alternates east and west side will lose an hour to that alone.

Frequently asked questions

Hourly hire from $95 per hour for a Business Sedan with a three-hour minimum. Airport transfers from Manhattan are flat-rated — $165 to JFK, $135 to LaGuardia and $175 to Newark, all-inclusive.

Yes, from the Financial District to Inwood, including Harlem, Washington Heights and the far West Side. There is no zone within the borough we treat differently.

Only marginally. For-hire vehicle trips into the zone below 60th Street carry a statutory per-trip surcharge of $0.75, which we show separately rather than folding into the rate. It is not the larger daily toll that applies to privately driven cars.

Give us the cross street as well as the address. Avenue addresses in Midtown often have no usable kerb during business hours, and a corner reference turns a circling problem into a straightforward stop.
